Things that make me happy, even on a Monday:
1. Writing things down on my to-do list that I’ve already done, and then crossing them off. Makes me smile every time.
2. Decorating the Christmas tree. I do this with my parents every year, and even though our tree this year leans slightly forward, I find it endearing. Also, the smell of the tree just makes the holiday season for me.
3. Starbucks holiday mugs. Especially when they’re filled with Peppermint Mocha Lattes. :)
4. Cold fronts! It’s actually fifty degrees outside again, instead of being the seventies like it was earlier this week. Yay for real sweater weather!
5. Rachael Yamagata. I went to her concert this weekend, and she has the most amazing voice. Also, “Worn Me Down” was pretty much my anthem in college (even though the lyrics have no application on my own life, thank goodness).
Happy Monday, everyone! Anything making you happy this week?

I can't wait to decorate a tree! I'm still in the process of bugging my dad to get our fake-but-looks-real Christmas tree out of the garage (since I'm just barely too short to reach it, lol).
ReplyDeleteHmm, that peppermint mocha latte sounds great! I'm tempted to go to Starbucks now,
Yay for tree decorating! My family and I did ours this weekend, and it was so lovely. Always one of my favorite nights of the year.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is definitely the time for making lists. I love it :D We are yet to put up the decorations, but I can't wait. (I usually give up an hour or so into it...that's part of the tradition.)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fab time at that concert, sounds great.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE lists now. Crossing things out is such an amazing feeling. Yay for that. And yay for decorating Christmas trees :)
ReplyDeleteI love Starbucks' godiva hot chocolate. It's like heaven in a cup.
ReplyDeleteI have two Starbucks mugs that I use for my hot chocolate (I don't drink coffee), but they're my favorite. When they finally expire, I'm going back to Starbucks for more.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE writing things down only to cross them off...it makes me feel accomplished :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband put up Christmas lights on our house this weekend, which made me smile. And we're going to cut down our tree this weekend, which is always fun. I love the holidays!
ReplyDeleteYay! We cut down our tree and decorated (even new kitty "got into it"--yikes)!!
ReplyDeleteThe pretty snow on the trees. I'm freezing, but the beauty is worth it!
ReplyDeletelol, I also write down things I've already done on my to do list, just so I can cross it off. Makes me smile to, and I'm so glad its not just me who does that :)
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about a peppermint latte all day! I'll take your mentioning one a confirmation that I must have one :D
ReplyDeleteWe decorated our tree last night. It's quite fat and lovely!
What's making me happy today? The fact that my Excel project was finished last night before the midnight deadline. As far as I know, I'll never have to do THAT again!!!
Happy Monday!
Jen
Oh I am with you on decorating the tree! So excited, I love it, especially as its something I do with my little one. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think it's great your tree leans. Adds to the specialness.
ReplyDeleteWhat's making me this happy this week: a week to breathe. No deadlines, nothing pressing, for once. :)
Amen on Peppermint Mocha Lattes! *high five*
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to decorate our tree! I feel the need for a trip to Starbucks every time I visit your blog - think we are both addicts :D
ReplyDeleteButtery Caramel coffee! Started my morning with a cup this morning. Actually, coffee always makes me happy! And making progress on my rewrites. I'm with you on the lists too - I wrote two things down this morning that I had already done just to have the satisfaction of crossing them off!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't got our Christmas tree yet. But my 7 yo spent yesterday putting out all the decorations. She did an amazing job.
ReplyDeleteLove Christmas trees! We put ours up yesterday, but aren't decorating it until tomorrow. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteLove lists. Gives me order in chaos. I made one last night. Now to begin crossing out...
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Yay for decorating the tree! I LOVE doing this.
ReplyDeleteTotally with you on the tree smell. So great :) And I've never heard of Rachael Yamagata, but now I'm off to check her out. Er, her music...yeah, check out her music.

Happy things: my new mug. It's just a black mug, but it feels like something I would have in my own house. Going out for a non-family meal. Buying notebooks, and getting craft books for Christmas. Being cautiously optimistic about finally starting a new WIP. Interior design blogs, always.
ReplyDeleteLove your Christmassy list! I need to get into the spirit.
I always love when the tree is a little tilted. Gives it an authentic feeling.
