Things that make me happy, even on a Monday:
1. The Oscars! Well, really, critiquing the dresses. I liked Natalie Portman's a lot this year.
2. Finding new movies I have to watch. How have I not yet seen (or read) Hugo? I'm so excited to see it now!
3. The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Whitaker. Ricki Jo is one of the most awesome, endearing protagonists I've encountered in a while, and the story utterly charmed me.
4. The Houston Ballet production of Cinderella. Incredible sets, gorgeous costumes, beautiful dancing, and a twist ending--so good.
5. Girl Scout cookies! I got a box of Peanut Butter Sandwiches, and they were gone in two days. Don't know how that happened.
Happy Monday, everyone! Anything making you happy this week?

Oh my god do I love Girl Scout Cookies. Especially those samoas. Mmmm. My kids want to see Hugo badly - we almost ordered it on PPV the last time we were traveling and in a hotel but we got so busy that we missed out:(
ReplyDeleteoh, how I miss girl scout cookies. And the oscars. lol:)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed Cinderella, and I'm curious about the twist ending! The three YA contemporaries I read this weekend (The Fault in our Stars, Anna and the French Kiss and Like Mandarin) made me happy. Getting a massage and hopefully going out for lunch on Friday will also be pretty happiness-inducing. Oh, and watching the movie Role Models last night.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit curious about Hugo now as well, especially after all the awards it got. And ballet productions are always the best - they make everything look so effortless!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that my guilty pleasure TV show, Revenge, is going to have a new episode this week. I'm so hooked on that show :)
I saw Hugo on a whim. LOVED it. Have you read the book?
ReplyDeleteI DID love the Oscar dresses last night! So many pretty ones--I have to confess, I didn't see one I didn't like! But I haven't seen the after shows, and I don't think ABC gave us the full RC.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about Hugo now, too, but even more about The Artist~ :o) <3
Girl scout cookies are out? YES!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Hugo yet, but I've heard great things. And Girl Scout Cookies YUM!!! :D
ReplyDeleteGirl Scout cookies? YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I wish.
ReplyDeleteYay Cinderella rocked!
I couldn't get in to Queen of Kentucky. I think I'm just bad with contemporary novels.
I didn't watch the Oscars but I do need to go check out the dresses.
I haven't seen Hugo yet but I loved the book and really can't wait to see it.
Natalie Portman was gorgeous! Oh, and I heard of Hugo both movie and book before last night. Just haven't had the time to watch/read them. The book is half words, half illustrations. It's super thick and looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Jen
PS: Now I need to find a Girl Scout!
i ordered Girl Scout cookies from my neice and they came in this weekend! Can't wait to get our boxes of somoas.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Hugo yet! And I am ashamed to admit I haven't watched The Artist either. But I will watch them as soon as the DVD comes out.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the ballet. Sounds fab. :)
I haven't seen Hugo, but my sons have. My 9 yo was watching the Oscars last night (because he wants to work in movies one day). Unfortunately, just as they were about to announce best picture, my 12 yo turned off the tv (because it was way past bedtime). My 9 yo was devastated. More so when he found out this morning Hugo didn't win.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see Hugo!
ReplyDeleteGirl Scout cookies! And I love that you went to the ballet!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the Oscars, but I loved looking at the fashions online.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had Girl Scout cookies in a while. I'll buy some the next chance I get.
Have a great week.
I absolutely ADORED Hugo. If you can possibly see it in 3D, make sure you do. I'm not even that big a 3D fan, but it was incredible. I just sat there in awe, imagining what it must be like to have your story told like that!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Girl Scout cookies! This week, lots of coffee is making me happy. Oh yes.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful dresses at the Oscars, plus the only film I had seen won (!) I'm excited to see Hugo too.
ReplyDeleteGlad the ballet was fabulous!
I still have not had any girl scout cookies. I need to remedy that, stat...
ReplyDeleteI really just watch the Oscars for the dresses. :)
ReplyDeleteThis week? Coffee is my best friend, and I'm hoping to watch a few of the nominated Oscar movies.
I'll be curious to hear what you think of Hugo. I thought it was a beautiful movie, but the story wasn't at all what I was expecting, so I ended up feeling kind of disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI DID love Natalie Portman's gown, though!
Ah, Girl Scout cookies. Just plug an IV of thin mints right into my bloodstream :)
